How many keywords does it take?

Did you Know....

"Search engine user confidence has increased over the last four years, as has the use of longer keyword searches."

"In this 2006 study... A full 82% of search engine users claim that when they launch a search that does not yield their desired result, they re-launch a modified version of the original search using the same search engine as they used for their initial search."

Law Firm Marketing

Law firms are increasingly marketing their businesses through websites and search engines on the Internet. However, the biggest complaint we hear when we are contacted by a law firm is, "Our site has good listings, but we are not getting any leads or new clients."

There are many factors to be taken into account when marketing your law firm. With that being said, let's begin with some initial questions that will enable us to provide your law firm with a successful internet marketing campaign.

  • Can your site be found?
You can increase the business of your law firm effectively with new contacts that will lead to new clients by enabling them to find your website conveniently and accurately in the search engines. People are continually searching the web, regardless of the time of day, weekends or holidays. Not even the weather hampers their search for the services and products they are seeking. If they are looking for you, can you be found? If your site doesn't show up in the first few pages of the search engines (recent studies cite: Google, Yahoo, MSN and AOL are the most used) you have just hung a "closed" sign on your website, completely defeating the main purpose of having a site for your law firm.
  •

  • How are you being found?
People are more educated and much more comfortable with the internet today. Someone might start a search with the keyword term "law firms." If that search is too broad and they are looking for a firm that is located within a specific geographic area, they will then add additional keywords to their search in order to more define the results. Geography is one of many examples of market refinement. There are a multitude of factors to take in to consideration when targeting a niche market including type of law, specific resources, case studies, etc. Studies have shown that more descriptive keywords are drawing a larger targeted audience.
  •

  • Where is your information?
Once they have found your site, if your potential clients cannot find the information they are looking for quickly and easily, there is a great likelihood they will leave and take their business elsewhere. The information throughout your site must be easily found and well organized. Visitors to your website should be able to locate information easily about your law firm, such as your services, specialties, number of attorneys that work for your firm, information about your attorneys, etc. Make your company stand out!
  •

Simply stated, visibility is what drives customers to your site, design peaks their interest, and content and ease of navigation will keep them there. The information about your site must be compelling in an easy to follow format. Showcase your talent, stand above your competitors and increase your business through a marketing campaign that says, "We are here for you." After all, nobody knocks on a front door if the porch light is off.
